As part of Stem Week we have been looking at why we should use wonky veg. We researched some different recipes using vegetables and then we chose to make pizzas and cous cous salad. We made everything from scratch including our own pizza dough. We also chopped our own vegetables. Well done Meerkats.
On Tuesday we visited Jimmy’s farm as part of our STEM week. We got to meet lots of different animals and feed them. We talked about where our food comes from and looked at fresh food and how it is grown. In the afternoon we got to build our own dens and we looked at which shapes helped us to build the strongest dens.
On Friday Oliver was the class teacher as he was elected earlier in the week. He was a very good teacher and he had good ideas. In P.E and Maths we had lots of fun with fidget spinners. We had a quiz where we had to take it in turns against Miss Cook. Oliver thought that it was the best day ever and he hopes that everyone else does too!
This week we have been set a challenge by Mr Payne. We have a £10 voucher to spend on games for mums and dads to play on Friday. If we get more than £10 we can keep the profit to spend on a treat. Today we have been researching how much the resources for our games will cost. We managed to find some blindfolds on Amazon for 44p. In tesco we found some coconuts for 69p. On Amazon we also found some cards for 1p. We are really looking forward to setting up our games 🙂
We have been learning arrays through laying patios. We learnt whether we could afford them or not and Taylor knew that 84 tiles costing £2 would = £168. It was harder than it looked but we persevered and found some solutions. We looked at what multiplication and division sentences we could write from this. These are our fact families. Well done Meerkats!
This afternoon we have been finding out about how germs spread. If you have germs you shouldn’t touch things because they will spread. We found out that germs spread really quickly everywhere to anything that you touch if you don’t wash your hands properly. You should wash your hands after touching animals, after coughing or sneezing, before cooking and after going to the toilet. Our glitter experiment showed us just how far they spread. It was really gross so wash your hands!
The answer they found was no.
